The nose behind Fleurs de Bulgarie by Creed, a floral/musky fragrance is Henry Creed, a legendary perfumer of the Creed line. And did you know? It was originally made for Queen Victoria of England at her expressed desire. Later, Pierre Bourdon made some changes to the scent in 1980. That’s how we got another spectacular Creed scent, Fleurs de Bulgarie. However, now Creed does not offer it anymore.

But, if you wish to get a similar perfume, you can try out Powdery Magnolia by Zara or Roses De Chloe by Chloe.

This fragrance exemplifies timeless beauty and celebrates the finest roses on the Earth_ sensual, sophisticated, and rich. Moreover, it’s not very sweet or powdery but rather sharp, green, and crisp. The opening comes off very astringent, aggressive, and strong.

However, after the scent has had time to dry down, it blooms on your skin, transitioning into a very bright and glamorous but rounded and softened Rose.

Top Notes

This rather simplistic blend consists of a versatile Bergamot as its top note that brings a sweet and fruity yet slightly spicy aroma. The Bergamot is refreshing and rounded but complex/ deep at the same time, adding that citrusy spark to the perfume.

The opening is brief and slightly zesty quickly followed by the show’s star, the Bulgarian Rose, which is indeed loud but not obnoxious.

Middle Notes

Fresh Bulgarian Rose makes up the heart of Fleurs de Bulgarie.

This scent relies heavily on the Rose which adds an intense aroma of romance to the blend and gives it its clean and feminine character. Besides, these notes are responsible for the magical, rich, and dreamy trail you leave behind in the air wherever you pass by.

Base Notes

The base of this perfume contains musk and ambergris; which adds a subtle touch of sensuality and warmth to the fragrance. The middle notes smoothly transition into base notes. This sensual base is what segregates FdB from other tea rose perfumes. As a result, you have a warm, powdery essence that is sure to tempt your senses.

  • Some people might find it extremely soapy and powdery

  • Not the most creative/unique fragrance

Longevity

Longevity refers to the amount of time that the scent lasts on your skin which can range from anywhere between 3-6 hours.

The longevity of Fleurs de Bulgarie is ETERNAL with the scent lasting on your skin from 5 to even 12 hours, owing to the strong and concentrated notes of the composition.

Every time you get the waft of the scent, it feels like walking through a Rose garden on a warm breezy summer day. The scent finally dries down to the sensual aromatic Musk, which is elegant and stays on the fabric FOREVER!

Sillage

Fleurs de Bulgarie has a MONSTROUS Silage and I mean it.

Wearing this perfume, wherever you pass by, you are sure to turn all heads to yourself. The scent radiates and spreads to every nook and corner around you to make you smell ‘important’ and charming.

The perfume is very well blended with a few essential strong notes and a sillage of 4 feet.

Since the scent has a strong projection, it might be overpowering on some occasions. Consequently, it is not fit to use in the office and for work since it might even trigger headaches in some people. Avoid such a situation and save the fragrance for a setting where you aren’t afraid of smelling like a huge rose bouquet.

When to wear your Fleurs de Bulgarie by Creed?

With its intense silage and sophistication, FDB makes a great choice to wear in the evenings. It is powerful so be careful when applying this.

A couple of spritzes here and there will be enough for you to be the best-smelling lady of the evening. Turn heads by rocking Fleurs de Bulgarie at wedding functions, a date night with your partner, and other formal events where you want to shine amidst the crowd.

You are not restricted to wearing this heavenly combination in just summer/spring but any time of the year. This scent is sophisticated enough to be worn in the daytime and great to wear at night. FDB is an ultra-feminine classy sensual scent so put this on and channel your inner Queen.

Packaging

Simply put_ the packaging gives off ‘Royalty in a bottle’ vibes. A transparent glass bottle of the signature Creed silhouette houses the muted pale yellow perfume. Bearing the company logo on the front and a gold-topped cap finishes off the rather simple yet regal-looking packaging.

The minimal bottle flaunts the vintage characteristic of Fleurs de Bulgarie_ Royal, Dreamy, Simple, and Beautiful.

Final Thoughts

Being a big fan of floral perfumes, Fleurs de Bulgarie by Creed was no less than an olfactory treat for me. This wonderful composition is built around Bulgarian Roses; it is easy to imagine a queen wearing this. Just a sniff of this heavenly blend and you’re transported into a land where you can’t smell anything but the fresh, dark Bulgarian Roses.

FdB is unapologetic, rich, deeply mysterious, and powerful, just like Queen Victoria. The beautiful dark rose over the rich warm Ambergris is incredibly alluring in itself, with a strong and decisive character like the Great Queen Victoria, who was a passionate user.

In my humble opinion, you cannot go wrong with Fleurs de Bulgarie. It is a vintage fragrance but totally wearable and very refined. There is density, richness, and a unique texture to it which sets it apart from the fruity rose launches intended for a younger consumer market. Hence, older women would carry it better.

Though popular opinion states that charging an incredibly high price for such a common combination is unjustified. You can find similar-smelling perfumes at cheaper rates for example; Yardley’s English Rose, YSL Paris, Tea Rose, etc. which aren’t too heavy on the pocket. However, if paying a big amount does not pain you, I highly recommend you get Fleurs de Bulgarie by Creed.
