My first encounter with Le male by Jean Paul Gaultier was in the park. It was a fine morning, and just like every day, I was jogging in the park.

Usually, I feel very frustrated by the fact that people don’t even bother to put on a scent before coming to jog. Never could I ever have imagined that I’ll discover one of the most amazing scents ever while jogging.

I’m sure you have already contemplated by now what happened. But it’s my review, so let me tell you. What happened is that a man in his 20’s went by radiating a strong, magnetically attractive fragrance, and trust me, I couldn’t be happier.

It was at that point that I decided to do something I had never done before.

Well, some of you would find it odd, but I literally went after him and asked about the perfume. I still remember how surprised he got. Don’t judge me, guys, but I had to. You know how much I love perfumes.

But enough about the encounter, let’s talk about the perfume! The guy was wearing Le Male By Jean Paul Gaultier. Since I was already out and about, I thought, why not just head over to a store and get my hands on one for myself?

A box and bottle of Le Male Jean Paul Gaultier perfume are shown in the picture. The box is cylindrical in shape whereas the bottle is shaped like male torso and is light blue in color.

Because if there’s one thing we know, it is that not all amazing fragrances work well.

There’s so much you’ve got to take into account! Longevity, how it is when it dries out, so I just had to see for myself, and I did!

So let’s get down and dirty on all you need to know about Le Male By Jean Paul Gaultier.

Summary Of Le Male By Jean Paul Gaultier:

We’re going to break the review down into several parts because who likes reading a perfume review like some news article?

The Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier was launched back in 1995 and has since been an absolute favorite for millions (it’s amazing how it took me so long to get here, but better late than never, right?) We’ll talk about the main accords, pros and cons, and everything that really matters!

  • made by Francis Kurkdjian
  • made up of classic masculine representing notes that have a modern twist
  • unique and aesthetically pleasing bottle
  • a bold fragrance that is most sensual and long-lasting!

The Notes of Le Male By Jean Paul Gaultier:

I must say that the sillage is pretty great. It leaves a 2-4 foot trail which is pretty impressive. I’ve tried countless perfumes, but it’s rare to find such a fun and unique blend of notes.

The perfume starts with a refreshing and invigorating burst of mint, lavender, cardamom, artemisia, and bergamot.

The heart notes comprise cinnamon, caraway, and orange blossom.

The base notes, however, consist of a unique blend of vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, amber, and cedarwood and tend to come through as the perfume dries out as you move about your day.

While writing and reviewing the best summer perfumes for men, i included Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier due to its price point and uniqueness alongside the compliments that you get.

Bottle And Box Presentation:

The bottle and packaging are to die for! I mean, sure, an elegant classic monotone bottle is great, but the Le Male adds the spark and excitement that your dresser has been longing for so long!

It’s a curvy glass design shaped like a muscular torso in a translucent shade of green.

While the perfume is great in itself, I have to point out that the bottle is what gives it a unique spin on traditional perfume. You can actually see the creativity that went into producing such a piece of art!

The packaging, on the other hand, is just as unique and exciting as the bottle. Ever seen perfume packaged in a metal can? Me neither, until now!

The perfume’s name is engraved onto the can and totally completes the look. Not to mention the adorable anchor that’s attached to the bottle.

This complements the theme without it giving off a juvenile vibe that could be off-putting to some. The creative team that did the packaging really outdid itself here!

How Does Le Male By Jean Paul Gaultier Smell Like?

Sure knowing about all the nits and crannies of what a perfume’s main notes and accords are great, but it’s also important to talk about what the perfume actually smells like when sprayed, the opening, and how it is when it dries out.

Lucky for you, I leave no stone unturned to provide the perfect review for you guys, so let’s get into it!

Opening- A Gust Of Pure Freshness:

The opening of the Le Male is quite intense, so if subtle is what you’re going for, this might not be for you. But if you’re not the type to shy away from a little attention, look no further than Le Male.

Right off the bat, you’ll see that the perfume gives you a fresh and minty fragrance that will surely grab attention.

Apart from the mint, you can also smell a calming lavender that rounds off the perfume as a whole. So basically, the scent is intense yet calming, and that’s the best I can describe it honestly.

And if you are someone who is in his 30’s and looking for elegance in summer evenings then go with Sauvage EDP.

Heart- A Blend Of Floral Or Spicy Notes:

While the perfume itself is intense, it has other aspects to it as well, which is amazing! The heart notes, mainly cinnamon, cumin and orange blossom, are what give it a soothing and refreshing hint that is so loved by many.

The concoction together makes a warm but spicy fragrance which is what adds to the sensual element of the perfume.

The Base of Le Male By Jean Paul Gaultier: A Sensual Aura:

The base notes are vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, and cedarwood.

They provide a warm and enchanting conclusion to the fragrance’s journey. Let’s say the dry down of this perfume feels like the happy ending of a roller-coaster thriller. Yes, that’s just the right way to explain it.

Trust me. You’ll love the rich and grounding essence that lingers on the skin.

Just like the other two phases, the balance in dry down is also amazing. The sweet and creamy aroma of vanilla and tonka bean is perfectly balanced out by the woody and masculine scents of sandalwood and cedarwood.

Sounds dreamy, I know! The vanilla was particularly my favorite part of the base. Honestly, I couldn’t have expected a better finish to the fragrance; warm and sensual. That is just on point!

And if you know OppositeAttracts, then you be knowing that we even love Vanilla based Essential oils for our humidifiers as well. Since they are relaxing and rejuvenating.

Projection And Longevity of Le Male By Jean Paul Gaultier:

The projection and longevity are decent but aren’t really the best if you ask me. It stays on you for about 3-5 hours, meaning if you want it to last you the day, you’ll have to keep reapplying it throughout, which isn’t very practical, honestly, and would just mean you burn through your perfume and finish it up too soon.

Normally i keep this perfume in a perfume atomizer for my re-application needs.

As far as projection goes (pun intended), it’s good, but not great. The leaves behind a slight trail of 2-4 feet depending on when you sprayed it, how long it’s been on you, and whether you’re indoors or outdoors.

So basically, while the perfume is amazing, it doesn’t sit well with regard to projection and longevity, but it is perfect if you just need it on you for a couple of hours!

A good choice if projection and longevity are, what you are looking for this summer, then do read the review of Nishane Hacivat.

Dress And Occasion:

The best part about Le Male is that it’s pretty versatile, and you can wear It throughout the year without discriminating with the elements. Whether a formal event or a casual day out, the perfume is pretty good for all sorts of occasions, just like Versace Eros.

Pros And Cons:

Pros:

  • A unique bottle design
  • Leaves an impression
  • Versatile fragrance and use
  • Adds to the aesthetic appeal of your dresser
  • Sensual and spicy

Cons:

  • Can come across as off-putting to some
  • Not the most subtle and can be overpowering
  • The longevity is quite standard, and the projection or sillage isn’t too great

Verdict:

My verdict is that Le Male is definitely worth the buy, even with the cons. It’s pretty budget-friendly, so it doesn’t do any harm to have one for special occasions.

Basically, it’s all about preference. If you’re into a warm and spicy fragrance that won’t leave you hanging for about 3-5 hours, then the Le Male is perfect for you!
