It was a routine business meeting with my clients; the boardroom was filled with several men and women. Just as I entered, I came across a unique fragrance, fresh and citrusy yet woody. The fragrance kept on my mind throughout the meeting, and by the end, I couldn’t resist and asked my client about what he was wearing. Well, it was Terre d’Hermes EDT.

Yes, you guessed it right, I bought a bottle for myself on my way back from the office. Since then, I have loved to wear this fragrance often and feel more confident.

A summer scent definitely with the purity of citruses which might be a little sharp in the opening. But it tames down to the elegance of spices and woods. More suitable for mature males and for official gatherings.

Summary Of Terre d’Hermes EDT Review:

What I have noticed through my experience is that most of the citrusy scents lack depth and richness. I’ve always been in search of a citrusy fragrance that makes an impact.

Terre d’Hermes is a perfect combination of citrus and woodiness that defines masculinity and strength. It is ideal for men who want to be noticed.

If you are also an individual finding your new signature scent and want to know about Terre d’Hermes in detail, you can check out the review. I have tried to discuss every aspect of this fragrance in detail, but let’s have a brief look at the summary before it.

  • Hermes launched this woody and spicy fragrance in 2006.
  • The scent gives out bold vibes due to a unique and artistic combination.
  • I can very comfortably wear this scent all year round and found it to be quite versatile, but it is suited more for summer, spring, and fall.
  • I’ll regard it as a modern take on the vintage scent that keeps one attracted.
  • Suitable for confident men who want to grab attention and receive compliments.
  • Projection is average but longevity is excellent, so one or two sprays were enough for me to smell great for the whole day.
  • A luxurious and deep scent that I wear on almost all formal occasions.
  • The opening might tell you it’s a routine citrusy fragrance but it’s the wooden undertones that cast the real spell.

Terre d’Hermes EDT Notes

As the fragrance opens, I first notice a gush of freshness thanks to the opening notes of Orange and Grapefruit. The citrusy accord feels very nice and crisp and at times a bit harsh too.

When we proceed toward the heart notes, the citrusy freshness is very beautiful, complemented by the raw and natural notes of Pepper, Pelargonium, and Flint.

All of these ingredients sound very strong and intense, but all hats off to the nose behind this perfume that balanced the notes beautifully, not too overpowering or faint.

The dry-down phase depicts the richest and most luxurious base notes of Vetiver, Cedar, Patchouli, and Benzoin.

The freshness of the opening notes remains intact throughout and comes together amazingly with the base notes.

Bottle And Box Presentation:

The bottle screams simplicity. It’s transparent, rectangular with a black neck. I feel like this is not something you’d say fancy. But elegant? Absolutely yes!

I am not a big fan of over-the-top packaging but I do want to see some theme in packaging. It is not here. Simple and elegant box only. It’s a brown cardboard box with “Terre d’Hermes” written in black and orange.

The box and bottle clearly define the audience the perfume is designed for. Elegant introverts, who mark their arrival once they speak and come near you.

How Does Terre d’Hermes EDT Smell Like:

The Opening Of Terre d’Hermes EDT – A Gush Of Freshness:

The fragrance of Terre d’Hermes opens up with notes of Orange and Grapefruit.

However, Vetiver is not in the opening notes. Still, it is pretty recognizable in the opening phase.

Well, I personally think that the hint of vetiver in the opening note distinguishes this fragrance from other citrusy ones.

I am a huge fan of clean Vetiver and you would know that if you go through my favorite Vetiver based fragrance – Dior Eau Sauvage.

Heart Notes Of Terre d’Hermes EDT – A Pinch Of Spice:

The heart notes of this perfume have Pepper and Pelargonium. It comes out really strong and magnificent.

I also felt a spicy pepper punch. The sweet and fresh notes of pelargonium beautifully balance the spicy pepper, and it does not feel too pungent and strong.

Base Notes Of Terre d’Hermes EDT – A Woody Magic:

To me, the most addictive and magical notes are from the base. Vetiver is what defines the scent throughout.

Not only does it add depth and richness to the opening notes, but it also carries the legacy throughout the dry-down until the fragrance finally fades away. However, Vetiver is not for everyone. It smells extremely masculine and dominant.

Cedar, Patchouli, and Benzoin combine stunningly with the dominant notes of Vetiver and add to the luxury, richness, and depth.

Benzoin brings in warmth and sweetness, whereas the notes of Patchouli cause a dark earthiness that keeps one guessing.

Together, these notes add depth and masculinity to the fragrance that comes out amazing in the dry-down and make this fragrance ideal for mature and confident men.

No wonder Terre D’Hermes EDT is on my list of best summer perfumes for men.

Projection And Longevity:

Terre d’Hermes lasts on my skin for about 9-10 hours with 2-3 hours of moderate projection. A spray behind both my ears and one on the wrists go a long way.

The projection of 2-3 hours is good as more than that can cause a headache to some people due to Vetiver.

I found the sillage to be average, leaving a trail behind me for 3-4 feet. Overall, the performance is clearly above average, and whoever passes by me is clearly able to smell this masculine scent.

Dress And Occasions:

As the scent features both citruses and Vetiver, I would regard this fragrance as the one ideal to be worn all year round. However, I avoid wearing it when the temperature is very cold as it’s a dry fragrance and won’t work well with too much cooler temperatures.

Personally, it’s my favorite perfume to wear to work when I want to feel very confident, mature, and masculine. I can feel like a king when I wear the suit and apply Terre d’Hermes.

My absolute favorite perfume for cooler temperatures is Dior Homme Intense.

Pros And Cons – Terre d’Hermes EDT:

Pros

  • Very attention-grabbing and attractive fragrance.
  • Gives confidence to the person wearing it.
  • A versatile fragrance.
  • Very good longevity and projection.

Cons

  • Not suitable for young boys.
  • It may seem sharp to some people.
  • Due to Vetiver, some people may regard it as an old-school and old-fashioned fragrance.
  • Not liked by everyone so do not blindly buy.

Final Thoughts On Terre d’Hermes EDT

In my opinion, Terre d’Hermes is the perfect scent for mature men, preferably above 30.

However, still I would suggest not to buy blindly and check it on yourself before purchasing. Vetiver is not for everyone and some people regard it as too dry. If you like the woodiness of Vetiver along with the citrusy notes, Terre d’Hermes can be the right choice for you and can become your signature scent.
